i think college is also a small society where i can improve myself .for example i should learn how to get along with other though i may dislike them ,or how to deal with things that i used regard as worthless and so on.

Facing this audience on the stage, I have the exciting feeling of participating in the march of history, for what we are facing today is more than a mere competition or contest. It is an assembly of some of China’s most talented and motivated people, representatives of a younger generation that are preparing themselves for the coming of a new century.
I’m grateful that I’ve been given this opportunity, at such a historic moment, to stand here as a spokesman of my generation and to take a serious look back at the past 15 years, a crucial period for every one of us and for this nation as well.
Though it is only within my power to tell about my personal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it at that, it still represents, I believe, the root of a spirit which has been essential to me and to all the people bred by the past 15 years.
In my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard but somehow could never do satisfactorily in her lessons.
The teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot from me. but as a young boy, restless, thoughtless, I always tried to evade her so as to get more time to enjoy myself.
One day before the final exam, she came up to me and said, Could you please explain this to me? I want very much to do better this time. I started explaining, and finished in a hurry. Pretending not to notice her still confused eyes, I ran off quickly. Nat surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam. And two months later, at the beginning of the new semester, word came of her death of blood cancer. No one ever knew about the little task I failed to fulfill, but I couldn’t forgive myself. I simply couldn’t forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, Why didn’t you do a little more to help me, when it was so easy for you? Why didn’t you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that I would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret?
I was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for I began to understand the word responsibility and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.
Later in my life, I continued to experience many failures. But never again did I feel that regret which struck me at the death of the girl, for it makes my heart satisfied to think that I have always done everything in my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best I can.
As I grew up, changed and improved by this incident and many other similar ones, I began to perceive the changes taking place around me and to find that society, in a way, was in its formative years like myself. New buildings, new commodities and new fashions appear every day.

Annoyed by such bragging, the tortoise accepted the challenge. A course was planned, and the next day at dawn they stood at the starting line. The hare yawned sleepily as the meek tortoise trudged slowly off. When the hare saw how painfully slow his rival was, he decided, half asleep on his feet, to have a quick nap. "Take your time!" he said. "I'll have forty winks and catch up with you in a minute."
The hare woke with a start from a fitful sleep and gazed round, looking for the tortoise. But the creature was only a short distance away, having barely covered a third of the course. Breathing a sigh of relief, the hare decided he might as well have breakfast too, and off he went to munch some cabbages he had noticed in a nearby field. But the heavy meal and the hot sun made his eyelids droop. With a careless glance at the tortoise, now halfway along the course, he decided to have another snooze before flashing past the winning post. And smiling at the thought of the look on the tortoise's face when it saw the hare speed by, he fell fast asleep and was soon snoring happily. The sun started to sink, below the horizon, and the tortoise, who had been plodding towards the winning post since morning, was scarcely a yard from the finish. At that very point, the hare woke with a jolt. He could see the tortoise a speck in the distance and away he dashed. He leapt and bounded at a great rate, his tongue lolling, and gasping for breath. Just a little more and he'd be first at the finish. But the hare's last leap was just too late, for the tortoise had beaten him to the winning post. Poor hare! Tired and in disgrace, he slumped down beside the tortoise who was silently smiling at him.
"Slowly does it every time!" he said.

Yesterday, I saw a TV program through Shenzhen channel concerning the soaring housing prices in our country. That program dispatched many journalists to have interviews with the public in which they are asked about what’re their opinions of the theme. Unexpectedly, most of the interviewees make complaints about the soaring housing price. They hold firmly to belief that such state of affairs is irrational and abnormal. The higher housing prices are, the less people who can afford it. Hence, this may conduce to exceedingly severe living problems. With no lodgings to live in, people begin to do something immoral, and more crimes will come forth, then, social instability ensue. Out of this point, some people may blame the government for not being able to command macroscopic regulation such as not cracking down on illegal purchasing approaches. While others hold the view that some special groups should takeresponsibility for the soaring housing prices problem. As some wealthy people or powerful personages are in p
ursuit of being wealthier by owing more houses through proper or improper ways, the housing prices are forced to be raised. Constant complaints against soaring housing prices will continue unless that tendency drops off.
After stating this universal complaint against soaring housing prices, I would like to come up with my viewpoints. Personally, I deem that this problem is really a hot potato. It depends on the governmental control and personal morality. However, in order to stop the housing prices from going up, I stick to the idea that the central government should make some effective laws , levy more taxes on house property just as western countries do to restrict rich people to purchasing and selling their houses. With the mutual efforts made by people and the government, there is no denying that the complaint against soaring housing prices will disappear one day.

At the beginning of climbing a mountain, you’ll be exciting with the fantastic scene of mountain, river and water. However, after a half way, you’ll fell so tired and exhausted. As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggest challenge is English,I remembered that when I come here first time, there is a party in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and they laughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughed except you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyone laugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about that and asked me “do you understand?”， and I answered “no”， “So why do you laugh?” ”because I do not want to be embarrassed”!
But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because they encourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese.
When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who is international student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage me join SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even know what SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRC anymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?” she said:” because I said so!”
But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me a lot.
Truth be told, I am not the best student in Wantirna College, but I appreciate this award and I will try my best in future.

Nowadays, the importance of learning English is obvious. The world becomes globalization and unify. The association of each country is closer and closer. People call the earth as a global village. English is the first current language in the international world. The communication of politics, economy and culture is upon English. As we know, we will take a beating if we lay behind. How to catch up with the world? That is, study English well to gain the first hand data. The entrance of WTO, the Olympic Games which will be held in 20xx, shows that we must learn English well as quickly as possible. Forcing study won’t stay in the heart, feeding knowledge into the brain won’t get a good result, and high mark isn’t our teaching goal. As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon's tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon's mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one's error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let's be honest people of good moral character.

i like wild animals. tiger, elephant, panda, polar bear, koala and dolphin! they are so lovely! there are so many animals live in the wild! i like them!but many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction. for example, with the development of cities, their living areas have become narrower and narrower. many of the wild animals, now are confronted with food crisis. at the same time, man is killing them just for getting their fur, skin, teeth and meat.
protect them, protect our resources of ecology too. all of us should realize that the loss of any species is the loss of ourself. killing wild animals certain is prohibited. we should say “no!”to leather clothing. we should say “no!” to eat them. we should set up many national parks as wild life. let them live there, happy and safe.

In my opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is animportant one to have. Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.
One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieveanything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at somethingnew, so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Besides, if wealways give up when we fail, we will not be able to develop new skills and growas people. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from ourmistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson wehave learned is wasted. Finally, we should never give up because as we work toreach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeedin other areas of our lives. If we never challenge ourselves, we will begin todoubt our abilities.
In short, it is important that wedo not give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end ornot, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better,more confident people. Furthermore, if we give up, we have non chance ofattaining our goals, but if we keep trying, there is always a chance that wewill succeed one day.

I feel so happy to have the chance to make a speech. The title of my speech is “Protect the Environment”. I hope you will like it.
Everybody knows waste paper and used coke cans are discarded everywhere. You might have seen plastic bags flying in the sky and getting caught in the trees when the wind blows or maybe you have seen old cans floating in the rivers. Our environment is the place which we live, but it is being ruined by us. There is a story about a house and trees. It is said that a man’s house was surrounded by a lot of trees. Though the wind was strong, that man could have a good rest under the trees. How comfortable the life was! One day, that man wanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn came without the protection. The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky. The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity! But that’s the price people have to pay for destroying in the ecology balance.
People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task. As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution? I think, first, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. Second, we can try to use less water and make sure that we do not pollute the water. Third, we should not throw rubbish in the parks. We can pick up rubbish if we see it. Fourth, we can live far from the noise.
The air, water and the whole atmosphere directly influenced our lives, such as the air, people may cough and it will lead to cancer. So we must try our best to keep the world clean and tidy. You might ask yourself, “Have I ever picked up some rubbish and thrown it into a dustbin? Have I ever collected waste paper or bottles for recycling?” If your answers are “Yes”, it means that you have already done something useful to improve the environment.
In order to make the environment clean, let’s join our hands together to make the world better.

一、英語(yǔ)的重要性

二、孩子的特點(diǎn)以及相應(yīng)的教學(xué)舉措
孩子們的年齡都集中在6——8歲，共同特點(diǎn)是好玩，好動(dòng)。注意力還不能持久穩(wěn)定。但他們可愛、聰明、熱情。正處于掌握語(yǔ)言的最佳時(shí)期。我作為他們的英語(yǔ)老師，我將盡職盡責(zé)，竭盡全力通過豐富多彩形式多樣充滿趣味性的教學(xué)活動(dòng)
三、教材特點(diǎn)
本學(xué)期學(xué)校采用了新的'教材，是譯林出版社的牛津小學(xué)英語(yǔ)，每學(xué)期上完一本。此冊(cè)書共有10個(gè)單元，每個(gè)單元分三個(gè)部分，分別要求聽，認(rèn)，說。從難度上來說，此教材比去年學(xué)校采用的外研社版要簡(jiǎn)單很多，詞匯量少，句型簡(jiǎn)單，這大大減輕了孩子們學(xué)習(xí)的壓力，同時(shí)也減少了家長(zhǎng)輔導(dǎo)的難度。教材遵循由淺入深，由易入難的規(guī)律，所選內(nèi)容均是與學(xué)生平時(shí)日常生活有關(guān)，可以密接結(jié)合平時(shí)的生活經(jīng)歷，切實(shí)做到了理論與實(shí)踐結(jié)合，讓孩子在現(xiàn)實(shí)生活中也能有機(jī)會(huì)鍛煉英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)。
四、良好學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣的培養(yǎng)
重視孩子朗讀作業(yè)的完成。英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的初級(jí)階段，一般書寫作業(yè)較少，大多是一些朗讀的作業(yè)。朗讀作業(yè)同樣非常重要，完成時(shí)一定要讓孩子大聲的朗讀給您聽，哪怕您沒時(shí)間，邊做家務(wù)邊聽，也要讓孩子讀給您聽，老師要求讀幾遍，就必須完成幾遍，當(dāng)然，這個(gè)幾遍只是一般意義上的，()也就是老師感覺讀這幾遍孩子能記住，能記牢。如果您的孩子不能完全掌握，還可以多讀幾遍，以孩子能記準(zhǔn)記牢為標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。讀完后家長(zhǎng)簽字，要具體簽上讀了幾遍，是否讀熟。
五、樹立家校通力合作，教育才能達(dá)到最佳效果的觀念
要樹立正確的教育觀念�，F(xiàn)代社會(huì)，在小學(xué)階段對(duì)孩子影響最大的還是來自學(xué)校和家庭。同樣的學(xué)校同樣的老師，學(xué)生的發(fā)展卻有極大的不同，有的學(xué)習(xí)優(yōu)秀，能考上理想的重點(diǎn)中學(xué)，而有的卻差強(qiáng)人意，甚至舉步維艱，為什么呢？除了孩子個(gè)體的原因，家庭教育的不同是造成差異的主要原因。父母生下孩子，花了大量的時(shí)間精力養(yǎng)育他，您的態(tài)度、習(xí)慣決定了您孩子的態(tài)度和習(xí)慣。
六、注重鼓勵(lì)評(píng)價(jià)，促進(jìn)學(xué)生的和諧發(fā)展。
孩子剛進(jìn)入小學(xué)的時(shí)候，年幼的他們也將面臨許多挑戰(zhàn)和困難。要多用表?yè)P(yáng)激勵(lì)的方式。常言道，失敗是成功之母，但對(duì)這個(gè)階段的孩子來說，“成功”是成功之母：取得進(jìn)步并得到表?yè)P(yáng)，才會(huì)對(duì)學(xué)習(xí)有興趣、有信心，為以后的學(xué)習(xí)奠定良好的基礎(chǔ)。要努力發(fā)現(xiàn)孩子的點(diǎn)滴進(jìn)步，多鼓勵(lì)孩子。對(duì)學(xué)習(xí)上出現(xiàn)一些困難的孩子，切記不要用傷孩子自尊的話語(yǔ)，這樣的話語(yǔ)可能會(huì)毀了他的一生。一年級(jí)的知識(shí)對(duì)成年人來說您肯定覺得太簡(jiǎn)單了，但對(duì)孩子卻不同，而且每個(gè)孩子的接受能力不同，要多給孩子一些消化吸收的時(shí)間，不要急于求成。

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.
When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,"Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"
"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."
