　　2.【事】 使用力,運用能力;使用的必要[機會,場合];使用的自由,使用權

　　例: lose the use of one's right hand 右手動不得了.

　　3.【事】 使用目的,用途

　　例: an instrument with some uses 幾種用途的儀器

　　4.【事】 習慣,慣常的作法,慣例

　　例: Use is (a) second nature. 【諺】 習慣是第二天性

　　Once a use, for ever a custom. 【諺】 習慣成自然.

　　5.【事】 用處,效用,益處,效果 be of (great) use (非常)有用,(非常)有益

　　例: be (of) no use 沒有,無益

　　It is no use crying over spilt milk. 【諺】 牛奶已潑,哭也無用 (覆水難收)

　　片語用法

　　1. have no use for 不需要;不喜歡、厭惡 (尤指某人)

　　2. in use 在使用中

　　3. make use of 利用;使用

　　例:He made good use of his time there by learning the language.

　　他充分利用他在那兒的時間來學習語言

　　4. out of use 不使用;不再使用

　　例: That expression has gone out of use. 那種說法已不再使用了

　　跟to連接的用法:

　　be used to V.=be used for V-ing　是被用來...

　　be used for N.　是為了...而被使用的

　　be wont to V.=be/get used/accustomed to N./V-ing　習慣於...

　　例: He is used to living in the country. 他已習慣于住在鄉(xiāng)下.

　　【注】

　�、� 若要強調從不習慣到習慣的過程，可用 get, become 等代替動詞 be。

　　如：He has got used to looking after himself. 他已習慣于自己照顧自己。

　�、� be used to 有時可能是動詞 use 的被動語態(tài)結構 (此時意為“被用來”，其中的 to 為不定式符號，其后要接動詞原形)。

　　如：A hammer is used to drive in nails. 錘子是用來釘釘子的。

　　used to 表示過去經常...(以前的習慣, 但現在沒有了)

　　例: He used to live in Paris. 他過去一直住在巴黎. (現在沒有住在巴黎)
