　　Stay on top of

　　如果你覺得在工作中常常有受挫感，那你很可能并沒有staying on top of your work。要想爭取主動地位，而不是在工作中落后或讓工作堆積如山。

　　On the ball

　　這個短語來自于運動場。當你on the ball，你要提高警惕并確保你能控制局面。"Make sure you are on the ball with those reports." 相反的是 drop the ball，意思是你沒有完成任務并讓和你一起工作的人失望了。

　　Think outside the box

　　許多雇主希望他們的員工能夠不斷創(chuàng)新，并用不同的方式完成項目。 在這個短語中，the box代表著傳統(tǒng)的智慧，或眾所周知的.東西。這句短語意思是想出新的革新的方法。"For this marketing project, we need to think outside the box."

　　Get the ball rolling

　　這句諺語意思是開始某事并使之運作起來。"Let's get the ball rolling on this project."一旦你有個良好的開端，你可能通過使用keep the ball rolling.表示你的意愿。

　　Brainstorm

　　這意味著花時間想很多的主意。許多公司會召開brainstorming sessions來應對問題并構思新的想法。"Let's brainstorm new ideas for the advertising campaign."

　　Pull strings

　　如果你拉一個木偶的線會怎么樣呢?你做什么木偶就跟著做什么。這個短語意思是不要按部就班，要學會打破陳規(guī)。"It will be difficult to talk with her. You may have to pull some strings with her department."

　　Multi-tasking

　　你是否擅長于multi-tasking或在同一時間完成多項任務? "This week we need you to write a report, make a presentation, and review last year's earnings. I hope you can multi-task!" 盡管你拿到的薪水還是同樣的那份。

　　Bite off more than you can chew

　　如果你攬了一屁股活兒，你就別想著按時完成工作。"He's working late every night. He bit off more than he could chew."

　　Downtime

　　盡管你經常忙得喘不過氣來，但仍沒人希望總是遇到downtime(停工期) ，尤其經濟不景氣的時候。"If you have some downtime this week, please brainstorm some ideas for our next team outing."
