雙語(yǔ)美文：值不值得，只有自己能衡量
It was a Friday morning, 7:30a.m. I felt too lazy to drive my car, so my son booked an uber. In five minutes, the uber reached at the entrance gate, waiting for my arrival. I just saw the cab number and entered inside the car. I was so busy that I didn't pay any attention towards the driver. I was searching for an important paper from my leather bag, so instantly said, 'Please, go quick! I'm in a hurry!'
那是一個(gè)周五的早晨7點(diǎn)半，我懶得開(kāi)車(chē)，兒子幫我在優(yōu)步上訂了一輛車(chē)。短短5分鐘，車(chē)就到了門(mén)口，等著我上車(chē)。我掃了一眼車(chē)牌，然后就上車(chē)了。我忙著做自己的事情，也顧不上抬頭看一眼司機(jī)。我翻著做自己的皮包找文件，隨便說(shuō)道：“請(qǐng)快一點(diǎn)，我趕時(shí)間。“
The voice came, 'Yes, Ma'am!'
只聽(tīng)聲音傳來(lái)：“好的，女士。”
I was literally surprised when I heard a female voice! I stopped my work for a second and looked at the driver. The driver was a young lady. Maybe, around thirty or thirty-two! For the first time, I saw a lady, driving an uber!
讓我感到驚訝的是，我聽(tīng)到一個(gè)女性的聲音，我放下手頭的工作，看了一眼司機(jī)，只見(jiàn)是一個(gè)年輕的女性，大概在30或32歲左右，這是我第一次看到一個(gè)女司機(jī)開(kāi)優(yōu)步。
The car was running on the national high-way towards the destination. It was quite a distance from my home. She was driving perfectly well. Hundred times, I had travelled in uber, but never I saw any lady, driving an uber! I didn't know, why I became so enthusiastic to know why she had chosen this profession. I started the conversation,'If you don't mind, can I ask you some questions?'
汽車(chē)在高速路上朝著目的地行進(jìn)，目的地離我家很遠(yuǎn)，她開(kāi)車(chē)的技術(shù)很好。我在優(yōu)步上坐車(chē)數(shù)不清有多少次了，我還是第一次看見(jiàn)一個(gè)女司機(jī)!我自己也不知道為什么莫名興奮，想要了解她為什么會(huì)選擇這樣一個(gè)職業(yè)。于是我開(kāi)啟了談話：“如果你不介意，我能問(wèn)你幾個(gè)問(wèn)題么?”
'Yes, ma'am! No problem.'
“當(dāng)然不介意，女士。”
'I guess, you are well qualified!'
“我猜你肯定受過(guò)高等教育，”
'Yes, ma'am! I have completed my education. I have done my MBA course.
“是的女士，我完成了我的學(xué)業(yè)，工商管理學(xué)碩士的課程。”
'Oh, wow!!! Why did you then choose this profession, instead of going for an academic career?'
“天哪，那你為什么選這行，而不是開(kāi)啟學(xué)術(shù)生涯?”
I could see her face in the rear view mirror. She smiled and the way she expressed her views, I was really amazed!
我從反光鏡里能看到她的臉，她都是面帶微笑表達(dá)她的'想法，我被震撼到了。
Very politely, she said, 'Driving was my passion from my childhood, ma'am! Of course I do respect each and every job. In this case, at least I fulfilled my desire! I love driving! I don't mind for big or small job. I wanted a job where I can get satisfaction. I got offers from m.n.c but this one I preferred because I like it! I know, I can't get enough money out of it, yet as I told you 'I love driving'!That's it!'
她很有禮貌的回答道：“從我的孩提時(shí)期，我就對(duì)開(kāi)車(chē)有著熱情，當(dāng)然我尊重每一份工作，目前能夠開(kāi)車(chē)，也算是達(dá)成我的愿望。我不在乎工作的大小，而在乎自己內(nèi)心是否得到滿足，我拿到來(lái)自mnc公司的職位邀約，但是我還是喜歡我目前的工作，因?yàn)槲艺嫘臒釔?ài)。雖然收入不會(huì)很高，但是我喜歡開(kāi)車(chē)，這就夠了。”
