New Year’s Day(一)
Every year January 1st is the New Year’s Day. New Year’s Day is the first day in a year, which people regard it as the beginning of the whole year. It is a holiday for memories and for hopes. Chinese always believe that a good beginning will make a whole year become smoothly. So, it is an important festival that nearly everyone will have a day off.
每年的1月1日是元旦。元旦是一年中的第一天，人們把它當(dāng)作是一年的開(kāi)始。元旦是一個(gè)對(duì)過(guò)去充滿回憶、對(duì)未來(lái)充滿期待的一個(gè)節(jié)日。中國(guó)人總是覺(jué)得一個(gè)好的開(kāi)始可以使接下來(lái)的一整年順順利利的。所以，那是一個(gè)很重要的節(jié)日，幾乎每個(gè)人都會(huì)有一天假。

As it is important, people have figured out many ways to celebrate it. Some people will celebrate it with families and some will celebrate with friends. No matter what kind of celebrating way, it will be full of happiness.
由于其重要性，大家想了很多方式來(lái)慶祝。有些人會(huì)和家人一起慶祝而有些則會(huì)與朋友一起慶祝。無(wú)論用什么樣的方式慶祝，都是充滿歡樂(lè)的。
For me, I only have one day off, and I study far away from my family, so I can’t celebrate this special day with my family. But I will do it with my friends. We plan to have a wonderful dinner on the eve of New Year’s Day. And then we will talk and stay together to do the New Year countdown. On the New Year’s Day, we are going to going hiking or go shopping. It is certain that we call our family to share the enjoyment for the first day.
對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)，我只有一天休息，而且我家里離我學(xué)校很遠(yuǎn)，所以我不能和我的家人一起慶祝這個(gè)特別的日子。不過(guò)我會(huì)和我朋友一起慶祝。我們計(jì)劃在元旦前夕吃一頓豐盛的晚餐。然后我們會(huì)呆在一起聊天之后一起新年倒計(jì)時(shí)。在元旦那天，我們會(huì)去遠(yuǎn)足或者逛街。我們肯定會(huì)打電話給我們的家人一起分享這第一天的快樂(lè)。

New Year's Day(二)
Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. The 15th day of the new year is called the Lantern Festival, which is celebrated at night with lantern displays and children carrying lanterns in a parade.
中國(guó)的新年開(kāi)始于第一天的新月升起時(shí)，結(jié)束于滿月15天之后。新年的第十五天被稱為元宵節(jié)，那天晚上用燈籠展來(lái)慶祝，孩子們提著燈籠游行。
The Chinese calendar is based on a combination of lunar and solar movements. The lunar cycle is about 29.5 days. In order to "catch up" with the solar calendar the Chinese insert an extra month once every few years. This is the same as adding an extra day on leap year. This is why, according to the solar calendar, the Chinese New Year falls on a different date each year.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are celebrated as a family affair, a time of reunion and thanksgiving. The celebration was traditionally highlighted with a religious ceremony given in honor of Heaven and Earth, the gods of the household and the family ancestors.

It symbolizes family unity and honors the past and present generations
