I pledge to seek and support policies that improve the quality of education and teaching and to provide all who love education with every opportunity to help them achieve their best. I am determined to constantly strive to match or exceed the qualities I wish to cultivate, and to uphold and always respect a disciplined, civilized and liberal democratic way of life.

　　I realize that sometimes my efforts may offend those of privilege and position, I realize that I will be opposed by prejudices and defenders of rank, and I realize that I will have to encounter arguments that are designed to frustrate me and deprive me of hope. But I will remain faithful to the conviction that these efforts and the pursuit of purpose have convinced me that it is commensurate with my profession, which is also commensurate with the freedom of the people.

　　In the presence of all of you in this Assembly, I solemnly swear that I will keep this oath.
