  Whether you're an experienced entrepreneur or just starting out, there's nothing more essential to success than keeping yourself motivated. Here are 10 thoughts that motivational guru Omar Periu shared with me a while back:

  2.Most people want to improve their situation but few take responsibility for motivating themselves to make changes.

  Don't say: "That's not my job."

  Why: If your superior asks you to do something, it is your job。

  Instead say: "I'm not sure that should be my priority right now." Then have a conversation with your boss about your responsibilities。

  Don't say: "This might sound stupid, but…"

  Why: Never undermine your ideas by prefacing your remarks with wishy-washy language。

  Instead say: "What's on your mind?" It reinforces your credibility to present your ideas with confidence。

  It's never easy being the new guy. Whether you're heading into your first job out of school or your 15th, the first days at a new gig are rarely easy ones. New coworkers, a new office, and a brand new work culture all lend to the feeling that you are a stranger in an even stranger land. What's the best way to cope?

  1. Study the dress code

  You still have to *comply with office policies. “Consult the manager about your new ideas rather than complain or simply demand for a change,” said Zhang, the HR consultant.

  3. (a) force to be reckoned with 值得注意的人物

  "(a) force","力量",可以指一個團體、事物或個人; "reckon"在此的意思為"認定"。 "a force to be reckoned with"是形容"有成功的條件而值得注意的人物、團體"。

  例:The new company will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

  4. Don't I know it. 我完全同意!

  當此句型以句點(.)而非問號結(jié)尾時,表示完全同意對的方意見,為口語用法,強調(diào)的是肯定的含意。意思為"我怎會不知道!?;我當然明白這一點!"。

  例:You say the discount rate is too low? Don't I know it!

  5. in a nutshell 簡言之

  "nutshell"原為"堅果殼",又指"極小的容器",故 "in a nutshell" 這個副詞短語的意思是"簡言之"。

  例:Bob told us in a nutshell what happened in the managers' meeting.

  (Bob簡略地告訴我們經(jīng)理們開會的情形。)

  6. growth sector 成長領(lǐng)域

  這個經(jīng)濟學上的名詞是指經(jīng)濟成長特別快速的領(lǐng)域, "sector"是"區(qū)域;部門"的意思。

  例:The leisure and entertainment industry is a growth sector in Taiwan.

  T: Think before you speak 三思而后”言”

  很多人往往心直口快,根本沒想到自己犀利的言詞可能對別人造成的傷害。因此說話不能不經(jīng)過大腦,在要說出口之前,先想想看”如果別人對我這樣說,我會作何感想?”

  A: Apologize quickly when you blunder 失言時立刻致歉

  如果你確實說錯話了,就必須立刻道歉,勇于承認錯誤,不要編一大堆借口,以免越描越黑。

  C: Coverse, don`t compete 和別人溝通,不要和別人比賽

  如果有人常在你的話里尋找漏洞,常為某些細節(jié)爭論不休,藉以想人炫耀自己的知識淵博、伶牙俐齒,你對他會有什么感覺?

  T: Time your comments 挑對說話的時機

  當你要表達意見之前,都必須先確定,對方已經(jīng)準備好,愿意聽你說話了。否則你只會浪費力氣,對牛彈琴。

  F: Focus on behavior-not on personality 對事不對人

  如果你朋友這些行為已經(jīng)威脅到你們之間的友誼,你就有權(quán)開口提醒他。此時最重要的是,你必須指明自己討厭他哪些行為,而不是一味的想改變他的個性。一個人要改變某些特定、確切的行為,要比改變個性容易多了。

  U: Uncover hidden feelings 了解別人的感覺

  當面對別人的批評或某些讓你不悅的行為,你只要能找出背后真正的原因或需求,就能夠用另外一種說詞去化解一場沖突。

  L: Listen for feedback 聆聽他人的回饋

  如果你仔細聆聽別人對你意見的回饋或反應(yīng),就能確定對方有沒有在聽你說話,得知對方是否以了解你的觀點或感覺。而你也可以看出對方所關(guān)心、愿意討論的重點在哪里。
