從名稱上講，在世界100多個(gè)國(guó)家中，稱“國(guó)慶節(jié)”或“國(guó)慶日”（National Day）的有中國(guó)等約40 個(gè)國(guó)家；稱“獨(dú)立日”或“獨(dú)立節(jié)”（Independence Day）的有美國(guó)、墨西哥、菲律賓、緬甸等約60個(gè)國(guó)家；稱“和日”或“和國(guó)日”（Republic Day）的有南斯拉夫、冰島等國(guó)家；另外還有稱“日”、“聯(lián)合日（Union Day）”、“成立日”、“革命節(jié)（Revolution Day）”等的，真是形形色色，五花八門。
從日期上說，全世界包括我國(guó)在內(nèi)，約有30個(gè)國(guó)家以建國(guó)日為國(guó)慶節(jié)；有的是以憲法頒布日為國(guó)慶節(jié)，如德國(guó)；有的.是以革命起義日為國(guó)慶節(jié)，如法國(guó)；有的是以國(guó)家元首的生日為國(guó)慶節(jié)，如英國(guó)、日本、泰國(guó)等。有趣的是，一些國(guó)家隨著國(guó)王、天HUANG或女王的更換而改變國(guó)慶節(jié)的日期。
世界上歷史最悠久的國(guó)慶節(jié)是圣馬力諾的國(guó)慶節(jié)，遠(yuǎn)在公元301年，圣馬力諾就把9月3日定為自己的國(guó)慶節(jié)，至今已有1，700多年的歷史。
國(guó)慶節(jié)常用詞匯句型歸納：
通常要表示“慶�！惫�(jié)日，我們都用celebrate 這個(gè)詞，比如：
Chinese people are going to celebrate their National Day on October 1.
The Mid-autumn Festival was celebrated by Chinese people all around the world.
要表示“以……方式慶祝”，我們通常說：
We celebrated the New Year with a dance party.
We hold a dragon boat competition to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.
如果要說“慶祝活動(dòng)”，通常用celebration 這個(gè)詞。慶�；顒�(dòng)通常是不止一個(gè)了，所以還有celebrations，比如：
The villagers had a celebration， with a new film to finish up with.
I'm sure the Times Square celebrations cost a lot of money.
