英語求職信的寫作技巧
Whether you#39;re submitting a resume cold or responding to a job posting, always include a cover letter. Yes, they#39;re tedious to write, but a solid cover letter can make the difference between getting the job and getting nowhere.
不管你是遞簡歷還是回應(yīng)一份招聘啟事,記得要加上一封求職信。是,這很沉悶,但是一封嚴(yán)肅的信會決定你得到工作還是一無所獲。
Address the Recruiter: Start your letter with the date. Skip two lines and write the recruiter#39;s full name, preceded by Mr. or Ms. Then, list the recruiter#39;s title and the company name and address. If you don#39;t know the recruiter#39;s name, simply list the company name and address.
寫給招聘員工:信件的開始寫上日期?諆尚袑懮险衅竼T工的全名,名字之前加上Mr.或者M(jìn)s。然后列出招聘員工的頭銜、公司名字和地址。如果你不知道招聘員工的名字,簡單的寫上公司名字和地址吧。
Say Hello: Two lines below the header, greet the recruiter with "Dear Mr." or "Ms.", followed by his/her last name and a colon. Don#39;t use the first name, even if you#39;ve met the recruiter before; it#39;s unprofessional to be immediately informal. If you don#39;t know the recruiter#39;s name, address the letter, "To Whom It May Concern."
打招呼:信頭寫完空兩行,即使你已經(jīng)見過招聘員工,也要寫上“Dear Mr.”或者“Ms.”加上他或她的姓和一個(gè)冒號向他致意。一下子就變得很不正式會很不專業(yè)。如果你不知道招聘員工的名字,寫上“給相關(guān)負(fù)責(zé)人”。
Introduce Yourself: State your letter#39;s purpose in the first paragraph. Tell the recruiter which position you#39;re applying for and why it interests you. Briefly list your top qualifications. If you#39;re responding to a job posting, mention where you saw it.
自我介紹:在第一段寫上這封信的目的。告知招聘員工你要申請哪個(gè)職位以及為什么你對這個(gè)職位感興趣。簡短的列出你的最高學(xué)歷。如果你對一份招聘啟事做出回應(yīng),要寫上你是在哪里看到它的。
Sell Yourself: The second paragraph is the most important: It#39;s your sell. Summarize your credentials, but don#39;t reiterate your resume. List your most relevant accomplishments from previous jobs, internships or volunteer work. Emphasize your qualifications for the job by highlighting applicable skills. If you#39;re responding to an ad, you have an edge: You already know the job requirements. Make sure you address them.
推銷自己:第二段是最重要的:這是推銷自己的時(shí)候。簡短的說說你有什么證書,但是不要重述簡歷上的內(nèi)容。列出你在之前的工作、實(shí)習(xí)或者志愿工作中取得過什么相關(guān)的重大成就。通過突出你的應(yīng)用能力來強(qiáng)調(diào)你很適合這份工作。如果是回應(yīng)招聘廣告,你就有一個(gè)優(yōu)勢:你已經(jīng)知道工作需求了,確保你對這些要求做出了說明。
Flatter Your Reader: The third paragraph should clarify why you want to work at this particular company. Explain why you and the company are a good fit. Show the recruiter that you#39;ve done your research. Mention a recent company event or express your interest in an aspect of the company that isn#39;t widely known. Remember, everyone loves flattery, but don#39;t go over the top.
取悅你的讀者:第三段應(yīng)該闡明你為什么希望在這家特別的公司工作。解釋一下為什么你和公司很搭。讓招聘員工了解你已經(jīng)做過調(diào)查研究。說說公司最近發(fā)生的一件事情或者表達(dá)出你對公司里并不廣為人知的一個(gè)方面的興趣。記住:每個(gè)人都喜歡聽好話,但是,別做過頭。
Follow-Up: Your final paragraph should be only a few sentences. Thank the recruiter for reading your letter, then request an interview and provide your phone number. Or, be proactive and state that you#39;ll call in a week to follow-up. Then do it.
結(jié)尾段:結(jié)尾段應(yīng)該只有幾個(gè)句子。感謝招聘員工閱讀你的信,然后提出面試要求并留下你的電話號碼,或者主動(dòng)點(diǎn),說明一周內(nèi)你會打電話跟進(jìn),然后記得去做。
